Russell’s Rights Respecters

Crown Primary School P5/6 (2016/17)

We have now moved on to our new topic in Primary 6 called ‘Russell’s Rights Respecters.’ This IDL topic focuses on learning about children’s rights through social studies, health and well-being and art & design. Russell is our school mascot for Rights Respecting Schools.


Within this topic we will be learning to:

  • Use evidence selectively to research current social, political or economic issues
  • Explain how the needs of a group in my local community are supported
  • Gather and use information about forms of discrimination against people in societies and consider the impact this has on people’s lives
  • Discuss issues of the diversity of cultures, values and customs in our society
  • Represent my class/ school through contributing and participating in society
  • Explore the rights to which I and others are entitled, and exercise these rights appropriately
  • Create and present work that shows developing skill in using the visual elements and concept
